Entrepreneur Carlota Espinosa and actor Kelly Lynch first met at a mutual friends home and became fast friends at first sight. “I believe it was about six years ago, although I have a hard time remembering life before Carlota,” says Lynch of the friendship turned business partnership. The pair recently launched LACaKe, a lifestyle IG account and soon to be website, documenting what’s new and great, as well as tried and true, in fashion, beauty and lifestyle. “We are both often asked for advice on fitness, skincare and fashion, and also what’s fun and interesting to do,” says Espinosa, who cofounded online flash sale supersite Haute Look, of the idea behind the venture which creates a curated collection of interests, information and guides for their followers. “We have very similar tastes in food, decor, politics, health and beauty,” adds Lynch, who in between acting jobs has restored two architecturally significant homes in Southern California: a John Lautner designed home in Los Feliz, and a Lone Pine house designed by Richard Neutra. “We often show up wearing the exact same thing. Truth!” We sat down with the pair to talk style and design and the inspiration behind the custom color bedding capsule they designed with Flaneur.

FLANEUR: Explain your Flaneur bedding color selections…

Carlota’s bedding and Princess Chicken. “The singer Sia rescued Princess Chicken after her former owner passed away. She was looking for a permanent home and my close friend Amelia Fleetwood told me about adorable creature.”

Kelly & Carlota: We chose colors that spoke to our love of Southern California’s natural beauty – it’s gorgeous sunsets, oceans, deserts and mountains – then added the signature blush color of the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.

Kelly’s bedding styled with Ram, her English Cream miniature long-haired dachshund “He was a gift from the actor Mickey Rourke and named for his character in “The Wrestler” because of his long blond hair… so Hollywood!”

What is  your favorite color and thing in that color and why?

Kelly: I’m drawn to the soothing colors found in nature and love the clean minimal but warm woods and tones in this shot of the living room in our Neutra Oyler House in Lone Pine, CA.

How would you define your style?

Carlota: Classic

Kelly: I’m a feminine tomboy

Where do you find inspiration?

Carlota & Kelly: We find inspiration everywhere from the moment we wake up to the time we go to bed, a color in nature, a photograph from our instagram feed, a girl walking by with great style…literally everywhere.

If you were a color, which one would you be and why?

Carlota:  I love the color white, it is a color right? It’s clean, simple and not complicated.

Kelly: My story can be told in the color green. The color of life, luck, renewal, nature, health and hope. I love all shades of it except, ironically, Kelly Green.

Do you have a bedtime ritual?

Carlota: I love baths, a little sweet and a tall glass of water.

Kelly: A bath with my favorite Himalayan pink epsom salts and a good book, a cup of herbal tea or a glass of wine.

What’s on your bedside table?

Carlota: Books I still need to read, reading glasses, a candle and my tv remote control.

Kelly: Always orchids, a stack of books, my reading glasses, a carafe of water, my beloved Lord Jones CBD cream and tincture.
